NEW YEAR, NEW STYLE AND A FRESH PERSPECTIVE

Roxana TanaseI am not afraid to admit: I am hopeless when it comes to New Year resolutions. Between career, school, family and staying healthy, there doesn’t seem to be much room left for change. But there is… We work at becoming better versions of ourselves every day, all year round, getting closer to whom we are supposed to become. And I can definitely feel the enthusiasm for what this new year has in store. If any of this sounds familiar, fashion is your best friend. It changes all the time, and repeats itself relentlessly. So, it’s safe to assume that it can do some of the aesthetic heavy lifting for us. On this fashion note: this year, let’s trust our sense of style to dictate what we should wear. Let’s get excited about unapologetically taking fashion risks! I know I am not alone in this: we all have closets full of “good” clothes that we never wear because we are not ready and we are still waiting for that perfect time to do so. Well, this is that time. Let’s start wearing our “good” clothes every day and stay away from the failsafe looks, that everyday grab-and-go uniform (unless your occupation requires to do so…wink). Fashion is a tool and the most user-friendly way to reinvent ourselves. And what better time to do so than the first month of the year? I see this moment as an opportunity to develop a personal fashion formula. We have been working on it while building impressive collections of beautiful shoes, impeccable suits, lovely dresses for that special instance that maybe, might, potentially come. When dressing for the occasion we create a special one. There is magic in choosing how we allow others to see us, by the way we dress.

If you think of your wardrobe as your work of art, after all it requires time, energy, resources and most importantly – your own artistic sense, the way you dress will become your curated individual creative expression. And while going through your closet keep in mind that 2016 is the year for luminous metallics that bring a cool air to any silhouette. Black and white monochrome looks are also brought back by a return to the classic trend of effortlessly chic. Mixing prints is also a scheme to consider when fashionably shaking things up: stripes and floral prints in similar colors, and if combining flower patterns reach for contrasting tones such as neutrals and brights. Yes, it pretty much sounds like everything goes and it does. Enjoy it!
